It's here, and it's awesome!
How cool is this? Seriously, the first one of these we got blew us away. A solid Mahogany body with a great feeling set Mahogany neck create an incredibly powerful electric instrument in a small package. Designed by idea-guy extraordinaire, Vern Brekke, this is a mandolin player's guilty pleasure right here, friends. You can sit around and practice in darn-near silence, then plug it into the amp of your choice and get great warm "acoustic type" sounds all the way to soaring electric screams. Whether you like 'ol Tiny Moore and his western swingin' sounds, Jethro and his jazzy chord voicings, Sam Bush and his adventurous eclectic electric excursions, or would like to try your hand at something more like Jimi Hendrix on the mandolin, this thing has got the goods.
Did we mention it's got 5 strings?
Yes indeed, with the low C string, you get the benefit of extra low voicing possiblities while mantaining the 5th tuning of a mandolin, so you don't have to learn any new fingerings! Pretty cool when you consider the possibilities.
It also features and Ebony fingerboard, armrest and pickguard which has mounted onto it two really nice roller wheels for tone and volume. The Humbucking pickup can be switched series, parallel or single coil for a wealth of sounds.
And it looks awesome.
