Since the first R. Taylor guitars rolled into our shop, we have held some in memory as personal favorites. With all guitars of this caliber, anything we’ve got - no matter what woods – could easily be anyone’s favorite. But a few guitars have both impressed us thoroughly and distinctively won over some of our more discerning clientele, and more often then not, Cocobolo was at the heart of the matter. So here is the latest and greatest of our featured inventory: a custom Cocobolo and Bear Claw Sitka Spruce beauty.
One of the first R. Taylor’s to feature the Florentine (sharp) cutaway, this guitar is as easy on the hands as it is on the eyes. With the 1 11/16” nut width, the short scale length and the Slim Carve neck, it’s almost like it plays itself. And with the Flat Top Geometry and Modified X-Bracing, it got a sound to match everything else. With rich warm lows and a perfect balance across the range, all of the notes offer the same crisp response and sustain.
Oh yeah, the top is GORGEOUS. Bear-claw for days. And the maple binding! It’s almost too much. Also this sweetie has the ES Stealth system for a great sounding pickup with no external modifications to this work of art.
