6/25/08 - We just got ahold of one of the last availble Phyllis guitars! These pictures are of the guitar we currently have in stock.
Leo Fender was very proud of his most efficient company - G&L Guitars boast the greatest achievments Mr. Fender ever graced us with in an affordable and small batch package. G&L Guitars, on the other hand, is also very proud of their namesake and recently wished to honor Leo's wife, who remains closely involved with the good folks at G&L.
To quote G&L, "Phyllis Fender continues to be the company's spiritual and philosophical leader. Her mission is to ensure that G&L not lose sight of Leo's vision and passion for the instruments he loved and the musicians who play them. Phyllis reminds us that Leo thought of musicians as angels, and that the creation of instruments worthy of them is a noble deed."
And a noble gift this guitar most certainly is. This Phyllis Fender "Blondie" Legacy is 1 of just 100 to be built and has proven to be one of the finest pieces to come from G&L Custom Creations division. The two-piece Swamp Ash body is finished in a custom blended "Blondie Blonde" finish for a classic and stunning look. The gloss finished maple neck and fingerboard feel sleek and fast with a custom thin neck shape. It's numbered out of 100, and personally signed by Phyllis Fender herself. Own a piece of history AND a lovely guitar!
Also included is a custom silver tolex hardshell case with black end-caps and a posh crushed black velvet interior, a Custom Creations silver Spectra-Flex Cable, a DVD - "G&L and the Art of Fine Instrument Making" and more.
And Philanthropists take note:
A significant portion of the proceeds from the sale of "Blondie" models will be donated in Phyllis Fender's honor to The Smile Train (www.smiletrain.org), the world's leading charity providing free cleft surgery to afflicted children in poor countries around the world. Phyllis' philanthropic efforts are focused on a handful of causes she holds dear to her heart, but she feels that The Smile Train is most appropriate for this opportunity. Phyllis explained:
"Leo's instruments bring smiles to musicians, and The Smile Train brings smiles to children."
