It’s hard to argue with the looks, tone, playability and value of the Breedlove FF mandolins, but this one is exceptional. Basically it’s a Quartz FF burst upgraded with a Schertler pickup and a gloss finish (like on the more expensive premier mandos). The resulting instrument is great feeling (still has a satin neck), great looking and tonally exceptional.
With the electronics (which are a GREAT deal when you do the math) you got the power to perform in any situation – but in an acoustic situation, you’re not going to need them – this thing is LOUD. And it’s nit just loud for loud’s sake – it’s actually a great tone with depth and roundness while still delivering plenty o’ chop. You’re gonna love this mando and so will all your friends. But you don’t have to let them play it.
