Here you go, folks. This is the very first Breedlove Masterclass FF Mandolin ever built. Because of it's uniqueness and prototype status, it has sat in Kim Breedlove's office since last January when it was completed, and we coaxed 'em out of it just recently. This piece features Masterclass woods and decoration and was personally tone-bar braced and voiced by Kim's hands and ears.
The Maple back and sides are astonishing and the neck is equally beautiful and flame-y. The top is a beautiful graduated Adirondack Spruce top with a well defined and even grain. The Honeyburst finish accentuates the natural beauty of the wood without over powering it, or hiding any of it's visual charms. The body is bound with Ivoroid for a nice sublte beauty and touch of class, an further accentuated by a small inner binding of black to sepearte the wood from the Ivoroid. The fingerboard and headstock are also bound in Ivoroid. The headstock is adornered with a Kim Breedlove designed inlay which could be described as his adaptation of a traditional Fern decoration, done in beautiful Mother of Pearl, Abalone and Gold Abalone.
Now tonally speaking, this is a serious mandolin. Being hand voiced by Kim and the first of it's type. Extra time was taken to create a special instrument. It's loud, yes. But the quality of loud is what is specail. As a good top class mando should, it's got a rich depth and roundness with an amazing amount of power and clarity. It's got punch and it's alive. It's just waiting to make music.
